R&B singer B. Smyth, known for ‘Twerkaholic,’ dies of respiratory failure at 30-years-old

B. Smyth has been one of the hottest up and coming DJs in South Africa since the beginning of the decade. In 2012, she released the single and music video for ‘Twerkaholic.’

She is most well known for her most recent song, titled ‘Blind.’ An acronym for ‘Behold – The Day Before My Wedding,’ it premiered on 1 November 2014.

Her debut single ‘Ain’t No Means Without’ was released in 2009; a duet with DJ Sway. It featured on three of her later albums titled ‘One of a Kind,’ ‘Blind’ and ‘What I Want.’

B. Smyth is a mother of four. Her first daughter was born in 2009, followed by one in 2010. They were named Eliza, Shiloh and Savannah. Three years later, in 2013, she gave birth to Lelani with her husband David.

She attended the University of Johannesburg, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business. She then moved to Australia, where she studied with a masters in Management.

Her debut album, the self-titled single/music video of which appeared in early 2010.

She released her second album, ‘Blind,’ in November 2014, with singles ‘Behold, The Day Before My Wedding’ and ‘Only Me.’ The album featured her first R&B collaboration with a male artist, with Ed Sheeran performing on the track ‘I Don’t Know How To Love U.’
