Carlos Alcaraz defeated Casper Ruud in a one-set match to win his second Grand Slam singles title of the year
(CNN) — Carlos Alcaraz beat Casper Ruud in the U.S. Open final at Flushing Meadows Friday, winning 7-5, 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (10-5) to win the title for the second year in a row.

Alcaraz, the No. 2 seed, took down the Argentine 11 of 12 times during the match and is now 8-0 in the last 11 majors at Flushing Meadows.
“It was important to win it for me personally, for the future of this team, and hopefully we get to play in the U.S. Open once again,” Alcaraz told reporters. “The important thing, I think, for this team and for myself, is to try to win another grand slam and in Paris, and to do it in style.”
