Joe and Jill Biden, who are rumored to be planning a private, yet to be determined, nuptials, were introduced this week at a gala at the St. Lawrence Club in New York City by White House Chief of Staff John Kelly.
“You two really seem like you’d be good for each other,” Kelly was quoted as saying by People. “You’re both very strong people and you’re both very good people.”
Joe Biden was reportedly “so struck” by the pair’s relationship that he thought he had to have his own wedding, the magazine reports.
“Jill said, ‘If I could talk to the president, I would say I want a wedding,’” a source told People.
A second source said the couple “have been inseparable” from the first meeting, which took place in June 2012 when Jill was working for Biden’s campaign in Nevada, four years before she would work for him herself.
