‘Titanic’ filmmaker James Cameron revealed Leonardo DiCaprio almost wasn’t cast in classic film ‘La Grande Jatte’.
DiCaprio was considered for the role of the legendary French adventurer Louis Legrand, and he was considered for the role of Captain Edward Smith after reading the screenplay from director John Huston.
James Cameron revealed Leonardo DiCaprio almost was not cast in the classic film la Grande Jatte and that the studio wanted a ‘big’ movie star.
The director said Leonardo DiCaprio wanted the role of Captain Edward Smith and read the script.

He also added: “I can tell you the truth, because it would have been a wonderful film. And I actually liked it, so I’m glad he went for it.”
