Deal or no deal: Whoopi Goldberg gives Meghan Markle a stark lesson in showbiz etiquette
Whoopi Goldberg and Meghan Markle go head-to-head on the red carpet
In a whirlwind week of events that has included the Golden Globes, the Academy Awards, and the Super Bowl, the actress Meghan Markle has been front and center.
While there are still plenty of people speculating about the future of her relationship with Prince Harry, we were shocked to hear that who’s been in the spotlight for her a lot lately is the lady with the big personality herself, Whoopi Goldberg.
Yes, the former actress, comic and comedian who has worked so hard to break out from the shadow of her more famous sisters, who are both SNL cast members, is now a very real force in the world of TV and film.
And when her name was floated as a potential SNL host, people were quick to write back. Like, not at all.
The actress says she was on board with the idea, but with only days to go before she has to decide if she wants the gig, the idea was quickly dismissed.
“They were like, ‘We don’t think you’ll be able to do it. You need more experience. You need to become a little more of the professional and I’m not saying that it’s impossible but you need more experience,'” she tells Entertainment Weekly.
“I’ll always say it was my way of saying ‘no,'” she continues. “Of course, I have a sense of humor about it because I think I can do it and I can be funny. This is who I am. This is who I’ve always been. I want to be funny on television. I loved SNL. I loved Bill Murray.”
Markle, who was initially in the running for the hosting gig, said she was glad to hear the news
