Toronto police arrest two people following a false alarm at Pearson International Airport

Suspicious device found at a Toronto airport has been disarmed and 2 people are in custody, authorities say

Toronto police say they’ve arrested two people following a false alarm at Pearson International Airport on Thursday morning that led to the discovery of a suspicious device.

Police said in a news release that officers discovered a safe, contained in a wheel well of a Delta Air Lines plane at the airport.

The safe contained a small container filled with suspected chemicals and a canister with what police say was an unknown chemical.

Police said that a search of the nearby area uncovered materials relevant to a security investigation.

The 2 people arrested are both from Toronto and face multiple charges including possession and making a false emergency alarm.

They were arrested after an investigation that lasted just over an hour.
